Course overview | Make your own professional wooden recorder with Dutch recorder maker, Jacqueline Sorel.

During this 5 day course you will be taught some basic theoretical knowledge and you will be involved in turning the profile from drawings, drilling the tone holes, making the head-joint and cutting the windway, block fitting, and tuning and voicing the recorder.

With only two students on the course, you are assured dedicated attention as required.

Course director |  Jacqueline Sorel, internationally respected recorder maker.

Materials | Cedar, Maple or Cherry Wood (Boxwood on request and at extra cost - we need to know this in advance to prepare the blanks).

Instrument type | Baroque Alto recorder after J. Denner in A440 or A415.

Abilities | Suitable for adults and students over 16 years old: musicians, artisans and craftspeople.

Please note; if you have had prior woodturning experience you are more likely to complete your instrument satisfactorily within the week long course. If you do not finish we can arrange a continuation course for you.

Cost | £1000 or E1300 (includes finished instrument).

Accommodation | If you are not local to Cambridge you will need to arrange your own accommodation for the duration of the course. We have listed some options in the Accommodation Section of our website.
